FROM THE WEST

THERE ARE 2 WAYS TO LEAVE OUR HOUSE, THIS COMMUTE WILL BE HEADING WEST
HEADED WEST DOWN 176TH ST. WE ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE ON THIS STREET SITS ON THE NORTH SIDE OF TOWN.
WE TURN LEFT AND PASS FRANKVILLE'S ONLY CHURCH. IT'S A VERY NICE SMALL CHURCH, THEY HELD THEIR ANNUAL SUMMER ICE CREAM SOCIAL LAST WEEK. SAME MENU OF MAIDRITES & EGG SALAD SAND AND FRESH STRAWBERRIES & ICE CREAM OR HOMEMADE PIE OF EVERY KIND. I HAD FRESH STRAWBERRY PIE. THEY EVEN BROUGHT BACK MUSIC IN THE YARD. KARLA (Klepper) JOHNSON HAD KARAOKE AND SINGING.
TURNED LEFT ON FRANKVILLE BLACKTOP, HEADED DOWN MAIN STREET OF "BEAUTIFUL DOWNTOWN FRANKVILLE" ALL OUR BUSINESSES ARE ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE. FIRST BUILDING IS THE OLD FIRE STATION USED FOR STORAGE NOW. NEXT IT THE BERG HOUSE, WERE DOUGLAS WAS RAISED, NEXT THE "OLD STORE" BAR AND NEXT BUILDING YOU CAN'T SEE IS OUR OTHER BUSINESS, JANET'S CLIP & CURL.
ABOUT 1 MILE OUT OF TOWN, SIGNS SAYS LEAVING WINNESHIEK CO. WE ARE NOW INTO ALLAMAKEE CO.
AND THE SCENERY FOR THE NEXT 5-6 MILES, IS CORN, BEANS, HAY AND MORE CORN, BEANS & HAY. AFTER 4 MILES ON THE BLACKTOP YOU TURN ON RIGHT ONTO HWY 51
HERE WE ARE GOING AROUND "OLD HORSESHOE BEND" AND IT NEVER FAILS THERE IS ALWAYS THIS GOING ON SOMEWHERE IN IOWA:
AND THIS IS THE REASON FOR THE WORKING SIGN, ON YOUR LEFT ABOUT 1/4 MILE OUT OF POSTVILLE IS A NEW REC ELECTRIC BUILDING GOING UP. AND NOW WE WILL BE ENTERING THE CITY LIMITS OF POSTVILLE
BOYHOOD HOME OF JOHN R MOTT, NOBEL PEACE PRIZE WINNER.
COMING INTO TOWN, YOU HAVE TO SLOW DOWN FOR THE RAILROAD CROSSING, AS DOUG SAYS" LOOK, LISTEN AND LIVE" AND THEN CRUISE ON DOWN MAIN STREET
LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE ALITTLE WAIT THIS MORNING, THIS IS THE FAMOUS 4-WAY, THIS IS WHERE HWY 51 MEETS 18, LOTS OF TRAFFIC SOMETIMES. WE CRUISE STRAIGHT THRU AND TURN RIGHT ON POST STREET. AND DOWN 2 BLOCKS ON YOUR LEFT YOU WILL FIND JOHN R MOTT HIGH SCHOOL, "HOME OF THE PIRATES"
I WORK IN THE ATHLETIC DEPT OF THE HIGH SCHOOL, SCHEDULING GAMES, OFFICIALS FOR 7-12 SPORTS PROGRAMS. AND TRYING TO KEEP A HAND FULL OF COACHES HAPPY. HERE IS MY LITTLE CUBBY HOLE OF AN OFFICE.
PHEW, THATS ALOT OF NEWS. AND GUESS WHAT MY CAR IS PARKED OUT FRONT AND HEADED EAST, SO STAYED TUNED TOMORROW FROM THE EAST AND MORE PICTURES OF THE INSIDE THE HIGH SCHOOL. IT'S BEDTIME AND I WILL LEAVE YA WITH THIS THOUGHT:

THAT WILL GET MY COCKTAIL BUDDY GOING!!!!!!!!! AND YES THIS WAS TAKEN ON MY COMMUTE TO WORK ABOUT 1/4 MILE OUT OF POSTVILLE.

FROM THE EAST TOMORROW.

I'M ALIVE

I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO GET AT THIS BLOGGING THIS WEEK, BUT I GUESS BETWEEN, RESTING UP FROM THE 25TH CLASS REUNION, BABYSITTING(i have darins little guy 2 nights a week), RAINED OUT BALLGAMES TO RESCHEDULE I'M JUST GETTING AT IT.

SURVIVAL OF THE FITESS, WOULD BE A GOOD TITLE FOR THE CLASS REUNION. FRIDAY NIGHT WE GATHERED AT CLUB 51 UNTIL CLOSING AND THEN MOVED THE PARTY TO OUR FRONT PORCH UNTIL 4:00. WHICH MADE THE GOLF WE HAD SCHEDULED FOR 10 THE NEXT MORNING COME EARLY. SATURDAY NIGHT, WAS THE PHS ALUMNI BANQUET, THE 25 YR CLASS OF PHS, HAS TO PLAN THE ALUMNI BANQUET, FOR THE WHOLE SCHOOL. SO IT WAS OUR TURN TO PUT ON THE SHOW. THE 50 YR CLASS IS ALSO HONORED AT THE BANQUET. IT WAS ALITTLE TO LONG AND A LITTLE WARM IN THE CHURCH. BUT WE MADE UP FOR IT AFTERWARDS, WE WALKED DOWN THE ROAD TO THE LOUNGE AT THE BOWLING ALLEY. PICTURE TIME:

COUSIN MARTY TELLING A STORY, BOY HE HAS EVERYONES ATTENTION, MUST BE A GOOD ONE.
THIS IS THE FEARLESS FIVE, (but we are missing Laurie Jo Helgerson). NOT SURE WHO NAMED US THAT 25 YRS AGO. BUT IT APPARENTLY HAS STUCK, BECAUSE WE HAD TO HAVE A PICTURE OF THE FEARLESS FIVE: TAMI PECK, ME, COLLEEN SCHROEDER, ANNIE MEYER. WELL THE PARTY CONTINUED HERE UNTIL THEY KICKED US OUT AT 2:00, THERE WAS TALK OF MOVING IT TO STONE BRIDGE(which was our big party spot in the 70's & 80's). SOME DAY WHEN WE ARE ON A DRIVE TO CASTALIA, I WILL TAKE A PICTURE OF THAT. IT'S JUST A SLAB OF CEMENT OVER A LITTLE CREEK, NAMED STONE BRIDGE. BOY THAT LITTLE SLAB OF CEMENT COULD TELL SOME STORIES. NEPHEW TONY, (joined us both nights) MENTIONED MICHAEL HAD HIS FIRE GOING EARLY IN THE EVENING AND ALL WE HAD TO DO WAS ADD FIRE WOOD, SO WE MOVED THE PARTY TO MICHAELS FIRE PIT. SAT THERE AND TOLD STORIES UNTIL THE SUN CAME UP AND IT STARTED LIGHTENING AND RAINING OR WE MAY STILL BE THERE. DOUG & I ARRIVED HOME ABOUT 6:00AM. WE ALL HAD A GREAT TIME.
DAVE O'HARA AND ME, NOW THIS GUY WILL TELL YA A STORY OR 2, BUT HAVE TIME BECAUSE HE TALKS, AND TALKS. I WILL END WITH A PICTURE OF COUSIN MARTY & ME. THIS IS THE FIRST REUNION HE HAS COME TOO AND IT TOOK ME LOTS OF TALKING TO GET HIM HERE, BUT HE HAD A GREAT TIME.

WELL I BETTER GET AT THE SATURDAY CLEANING, HAVE TO GIVE THE HUSBAND, BROTHER MARK, NEPHEW TONY A RIDE TO THE GOLF COURSE FOR A TOURN THIS AFTERNOON AND THEN PICK THEM UP OF COURSE. KAYLA, KORI AND I WILL BE OFF TO ELKADER TO DO A LITTLE LOOKING AT THE BRIDAL SHOP. I THINK I WILL HAVE TIME FOR THAT COMMUTE BLOG. 20 - plus PICTURES, SO IT MAY TAKE 2 BLOGS BUT STAYED TUNED THIS WEEK.

WE HAVE A COUPLE OF QUIET WEEKENDS, THEN IT WILL BE LOONEY FEST '07, STAY TUNED FOR THAT TOO. HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND

LIFE A PAIN IN THE ( l )

YES IT HAS BEEN A WHILE. FIRST WE ARE FINALLY OUT OF SCHOOL, FINISHED LAST WEDNESDAY. I ATTENDED THE STATE GOLF MEET, WHICH WAS ALOT OF FUN TO WATCH. OUR STUDENT FINISHED 29TH OUT OF 60. FIRST DAY SHE GOLFED WELL AND THE 2ND DAY SHE FOUND OUT THE GAME OF GOLF CAN TURN ON YA. HAD ABOUT 20 GRADUATIONS, 4 WEDDINGS IN MAY. SO THAT IS WHERE I HAVE BEEN.

AND THEN ON THURSDAY THIS WEEK, WE HAD A POWER OUTAGE IN TOWN, AND OUR COMPUTER WAS ON AND FOR SOME LOVELY REASON, WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON EVERYTHING WAS GONE. SO THE LAST FEW DAYS I HAVE BEEN RELOADING EVERYTHING. HAD TO DO A RECOVERY, UPGRADE TO WINDOWS XP, AND LOAD EVERYTHING ELSE. STILL HAVE SOME MORE TO DO TODAY. THOUGHT I WOULD TRY AND BLOG AND SEE IF IT WORKS. NO PICTURES, HAVE TO RELOAD ALL THAT CRAP.

BY FRIDAY AFTERNOON, ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH. WE HAVE SPENT THE LAST 2 DAYS AT THE GOLF COURSE. MIGHT TRY THAT LATER TODAY ALSO.

THIS WEEK HAVE TO FINISH UP THE CLASS REUNION STUFF, ALL THOSE ACTIVITIES ARE STARTING ON FRIDAY, WE HAVE OVER HALF THE CLASS COMING, SHOULD BE FUN.

FRANKVILLE NEWS, LINDY FREY WAS KILLED IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON MONDAY, FUNERAL WAS FRIDAY, SAID THEY SERVED ABOUT 150 FOR LUNCH, THATS A LOT FOR THE LITTLE FRANKVILLE CHURCH.

MARTY LEIRAN (formerly the Spilde house) TORE THE HOUSE DOWN THIS WEEK, BURIED AND BURNED IT IN A BIG HOLE, THEY ARE BUILDING A NEW ONE. THE CONSTRUCTION CLASS FROM NICC IS GOING TO BUILD IT, COULD TAKE UP TO 2 YEARS. I WILL HAVE TO TAKE A PICTURE, THE CORNER LOOKS BARE.

OTHER THEN THAT CANT THINK OF MUCH NEWS, I SEE THE SISTER BLOGGED HER COMMUTE, I WILL TRY MINE TOMORROW, THAT WAY I WILL KNOW IF THE PICTURE THING IS WORKING ON HERE.

NOT SURE OUR COMMUTES ARE AS PRETTY AS REX & MARY'S. BUT WE WILL GIVE IT A SHOT.

HAVE A GOOD WEEK
