NOT SURE IF YOU CAN GET THE JUST OF THIS BUT THIS IS OUR STREET, AND NOT OPEN YET AT 5:00 pm. THAT BIG DRIFT YOU SEE, FIRST THE COUNTY PICKUP TRIED WITH THE BLADE ON FRONT, AND NO LUCK AND THEN THE BIG DUMP TRUCK CAME WITH THE BLADE AND NO LUCK EITHER IN FACT IT SLID OFF INTO THE DITCH. SO I GUESS WE WILL BE WAITING UNTIL SOMETHING BIGGER CAN GET HERE. THE SNOW WEIGHS A TON, ITS VERY HEAVY WET SNOW. HARD TO PUSH AND SHOVEL. THE OTHER PICTURE IS THE RECHSTEINERS OLD BACK YARD THE SNOW IS PILED HALF WAY UP THOSE PINE TREES. IT HAS BEEN SNOWING ON AND OFF ALL DAY SO ITS PROBABLY MORE LIKE 26 -28 INCHES NOW. BUT WE ALL MADE IT TO COFFEE THIS MORNING, BY FOOT!!!! KENT GOT 2 PICKUPS STUCK TRYING TO GET THERE. BRIAN SNITKER WENT AND GOT THE TRACTOR FOR HIM AND THEY PULLED BOTH OUT AND MADE IT TO COFFEE, GOD FORBID IF YOU WOULD MISS SUNDAY MORNING FRANKVILLE COFFEE.
NO SCHOOL TOMORROW, LOTS OF PLACES WITHOUT POWER. THIS WAS JUST A GOOD OLD IOWA BLIZZARD. SOUNDS LIKE A FEW CARD PLAYERS UPTOWN LAST NIGHT, WE STAYED HOME TO WATCH THE WRESTLING FINALS. MFLMARMAC GOT A STATE CHAMP, BUT THAT WAS IT FOR THE AREA. AND THE FRANKVILLE BOYS ARE SNOWED IN AT HOTEL FORT DES MOINES, HAVING A GREAT TIME IT SOUNDS LIKE, THEY ARE GOING TO TRY AND HEAD HOME TOMORROW, INT 35 WAS CLOSED AND HWY 20, SO THEY DECIDED TO STAY.
OTHER THEN READING A GOOD BOOK FOR THE LAST 2 DAYS, NOT ALOT HAPPENING. BESIDES EATING. I WILL BE OUT TOMORROW OR LORD KNOWS WHAT I MIGHT WEIGH.
I GUESS THATS IT FOR NOW
TOODLES

Thanks for the pictures!! I have to say I don't miss that kind of weather at all!! Although the concept of staying home for a "snow day" is a nice thought.

Must be something in the water that those Frankville people don't know enough to stay home in a blizzard. I remember back in 65', when about 6 people from Frankville came to the Alibi for corn beef/cabbage and ended up at our house for 3 days. I wasn't too happy about giving up my bed. Every day they could make it to the tavern, come nighttime, they were back to our house.
